What is LIFT?
We are a non-partisan alliance of people who share common principles.
We believe our community best prospers when we develop an environment to support and promote jobs and the businesses that create those jobs.
Our mission is to advocate for policies, conditions and leadership that create and support a healthy economic environment as a recognized foundation of a quality community.
To achieve this mission we will advocate, educate and mentor.
LIFT will complement and support organizations and individuals who are interested in similar goals.
LIFT will support a pro-business philosophy as a means of creating and maintaining a quality community.
Once again, the majority of the Longmont city Council is up for election this year: Brian Hansen in Ward I, Sean McCoy in Ward III, and Sara Levison in the At Large seat. The mayor’s seat is also up for re-election. LIFT will be interviewing candidates to better educate our supporters, educate the public, and influence the elections in a positive way that will benefit the business community and our local economy. As you know, LIFT, as a 501(c)(4) corporation, cannot contribute to any campaign, but working with our supporters can inform and influence voters through print and electronic advertising, forums, debates, and so on.
LIFT was very active during the past election cycle. We are proud to have played a significant role in electing a more business-friendly City Council. Among other things, LIFT produced a successful Economic Summit in conjunction with the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce, conducted non-partisan interviews of all City Council candidates, and presented an analysis of these efforts to our LIFT members, business leaders and City Council members. As LIFT proceeds forward, we would like your input on those issues you feel LIFT should make a priority in 2011/2012.
Please use our Contact Us page to share any issues you would like LIFT to consider.
