Hooray!!!!!! for something positive in this somewaht negative world. Read about you in the Times-Call. Want to be involved. Since moving to longmont 4 yrs ago, my husband and I have been looking for some way to be a force for good.
I'm happy to jump into the blog here. I saw the posting supporting the school tax issues. I understand the need for LIFT to come out in support of our schools, but feel it would show more commitment if LIFT was to help facilitate a business/school partnership over any form of new sizable tax. It would be more ideal for our business community to commit hours and dollars toward meeting specific school needs, as determined by coordinated efforts with teachers and administrators, than to give money to a, in some circles, perceived failed school system.
I believe this effort (also coordinated with concerned citizens) could produce a much more effective response to school/student needs than granting dollars to SVVSD, and would garner more good will amoung citizens than is currently being received by SVVSD.
I look forward to good work being done by LIFT and would be happy to lend a hand.
